Jarrow Roofing entertain North Shields at Boldon on Saturday afternoon with Richie McLoughlin calling for the same kind of performance that delivered three Northern League Division One points on Tuesday night.

After beating Consett 2-1 at home on Tuesday, the Roofers face the high-flying Robins who make the short trip through the Tyne Tunnel sitting in second place in the league table.

And the Roofing supremo expects an entertaining game.

“If we can play as we did against Consett and get our flair players into the game then it will be an entertaining match.

“If we can look after the ball and, as on Tuesday, give very little of it away, then that goes some way to what you need to win games.

“We need to make sure that when we do lose possession that we all work hard to win it back.”

With Roofing having been inconsistent this season, sitting sixth-bottom and out of both the FA Cup and FA Vase following insipid performances, McLoughlin is hoping that a corner has been turned.

“I have not been enjoying our style of play much this season, and it has been more frustrating considering we have some very good players in the squad. We have the players to match any team in this division and consistency is what we are aiming for.”

Although Roofing have had their squad decimated this season with a lengthy injury list and the unavailability of players, as well as the recent departures of the highly-rated Ethan Wood to his local team Easington Colliery and Ross Toward who returned to Hebburn Town, the talent in a squad which includes Dennis Knight, Paul Gardiner and Lee Kerr is such that Roofing should be aiming to climb the table quickly.

And McLoughlin believes that it is “now time to start showing teams what we can do”.

Jamie Marshall misses the game due to being on his honeymoon while Chris Winn and Dan Kirkup also miss out though there is a return to the squad for Ryan Burton following an injury that ruled him out for a month.

Olly Martin faces a late fitness test after being withdrawn late on in the game against Consett.

McLoughlin is also hoping to add a player to his squad in time for the 3pm clash with the Robins.
